캘거리처럼 고도가 높은 지대는 공기압이 상대적으로 낮아서 엔진에 유입되는 산소의 양이 해수면 지역보다 적습니다. 그래서 octane rating이 좀 낮아도 엔진에 노킹 (knocking - 압축으로 인한 온도 상승으로 조루(?) 폭발하는 현상)이 안 생긴다네요. 결과적으로 말해 고산지대에서는 high octane fuel을 써도 저기압으로 인해 출력향상을 기대하기 어렵다는 얘기네요.
