It is called EI (Employment Insurance).
If you quit a job voluntarily, you are not elgible to get any EI benefit. The reason should be lay off, fire (non voluntary fire without misdirect). discriminated ... others. not Voluntarily.
You should have at least 900 hrs and it doesn't matter you have been workng 2~3 jobs or more.
what is the important is the reason why you quit it from last workplace.
If you are working 900 hrs grocery and you move to sandwich shop working 10 hrs and get fired at sandwich shop, you are eligible to get EI for 910 hrs.
If you have been working 2500 hrs total.. it will be maximum.
it would be 8~9 months. It's the maximum in Alberta.
the amount of EI depends on province.
What is one of good things, When you are getting EI, it will be very possible for you to get another benefit like Funding or Gov education program prior to non EI people.
If you are getting Gov funding program in SAIT or other college with EI beneft, the gov will support your tuition fee (it's called funding program) and also you can get EI from Gov.
But you will not be allowed to work within limited hrs a week.
It can be a good chance to take course in SAIT, Bow valley..
Thanks,
